Mom-Approved Work From Home Outfits
Introduction
As a work-at-home mom, I totally get the temptation to stay in your jammies day after day or rock literally nothing but activewear for all of eternity. All too easy when your ‘bedroom’ is only a few steps from where you work. But on another note, I have come to see the need for making a conscious decision about what you want to wear the next day.
Not just an option to be discarded but definitely do give a thought before picking up one old t-shirt or that pair of faded pants in the corner — working from home can also make what you wear more personal and tailored even if it remains generic. Looking good does more than make you feel confident and professional, it literally changes how our brains processes information during the day!
Transitioning Styles
Working from home outfits have been a journey — for better or worse, depending on who you ask! At first it was fun to ditch the office wear and put on comfy loungewear or even just stay in our PJs all day. But as we all start to move back into the office for a couple of days, it has generated another difficulty:
what do you wear? These thoughts naturally dawn on many of us who find ourselves staring at our wardrobes in frustration and despair as we ask the all-too-familiar questions, while dust flies into our face: «Do I actually have anything to wear? It is a chaotic and bewildering time of transitioning but it might just be the perfect moment to reclaim your fashion mojo.
Work From Home Outfits
Jogger Set
Comfortable and stylish work from home outfits. A jogger lounge set — these really are my go-to choice for those stay at home days where I need to feel comfortable but still decent. And they are more than just a fad — the WFH appropriate sets are an actual upgrade from traditional pajamas or sweatsuits. For me, I love the look of Varley Davidson Sweat and Pant as well.
For a bit of modern bohemian vibes, I layer necklaces with chain like the Madewell Filosophy Box Style Chain Necklace. It’s a subtle but impactful part of the outfit that adds airiness and femininity to make everything feel more finished (and feels good). When it comes to shoes though, nothing beats wearing my favourite slippers for ultimate all-day comfort with a bit of cuteness.
Elevating Your Look
Working from home (WFM), it is easy to get caught into the face of minimal makeup and pajamas, especially when you spend most days having conference calls on Zoom. Sure, no one really NEEDS to wear concealer and mascara for their daily routine of getting ready in the morning (and I know some people who proudly profess that they leave their home without a stitch of makeup) but those few extra minutes can make all the difference during your day. For me, even a smidgen of makeup (bare minimum) and doing my hair contributes to this kind of put-togetherness productivity. It’s a tiny thing that pays off in big dividends for bumping up my morning.
Strategic Layering for Comfort
When it comes to those work from home days and fluctuating temperatures in your little office that sort of doubles as a kitchen, let’s be real: comfort is king. Take advantage of lazy lujit with cozy leggings and nice top, rather than a ratty t-shirt. The perfect way to be comfortable and still feel put together during that work from home attire is an oversized button down, cozy cardigan or chic tunic. This way I stay comfortable but efficient — ready for a sudden Zoom call or work from home productivity.
