Selecting the Perfect Destination for Your Baby’s First Trip

There is a lot to consider when finding the best place for your baby of their first journey. However, when travelling with a baby you’ll also need to consider things like the season of when you’re going, weather conditions and your mode of transport. It may feel intimidating, but none of our travels with little ones have been regretted! Here are some key information to assist whilst you plan.

Time of year matters a lot. Book a trip in the off-peak/shoulder season (April, May, September and October) when prices are lower and weather will likely be more pleasant. This makes it easier for your baby—and also a little bit friendlier on your wallet. Don’t go during the hot summer months of July and August, especially in desert and beach places. Or in places like Maine that wouldn’t want games to be played outside anytime from say November through February.

Consider how you will travel there. Destination Limit — If your baby hate long drives, find some place more closer. When flying, determine whether a longer flight is feasible or if better suited to short-haul. Kitty Upkeep Tip #2: Look at transportation options at your destination (public, driving and/or hiring cabs). Ensure to have a car seat when necessary, or book an appropriate taxi with one.

Plan activities for you and baby A vacation is supposed to be fun for the both of you. Check the hotel for spa treatments, or surf lessons at the beach. Split kid duty with the partner or traveling companion so you both get some time for energetic recharge, too. Do make sure that whatever you do together with your baby. Finally, allow a few buffer days at the end of your trip to get back into rhythm so that you can do some laundry and reset when it comes time for real life.

Considering Climate and Safety

Climate is one of the first consideration when planning baby friendly vacation. Particularly this shouldn’t be overlooked while deciding a destination to go with your little one, Travel arrangements are best made to avoid monsoon season or potential winter storm seasons. Be sure to check what the weather will be like ahead of time so you can pack clothing and supplies accordingly, thus ensuring your baby is comfortable at all times during the trip.

Safety is equally paramount. When traveling with babies you also want to evaluate the health system, and how far away from a hospital or healthcare center. Choosing locations with easy access to baby staples will ease your worry of emergencies. Although a remote vacation villa might seem perfect, check that it is logistically feasible by confirming how far the nearest hospital (should you ever need one) and shops for essentials like baby foods will be.

Families can rest assured visiting a destination that is considered safe through expert opinion and travel advisories. Of course, if you travel by plane or taxi —if they have one available— or rent a car your transportation safety includes that these vehicles meet international regulations and can fit child seats.
